In an attempt to better control oil in the head, I am
installing a 2.4L valvecover. It has extensive baffles on the underside
which I believe will help in reducing the amount of oil out of the breather
connection. Diameter is also much larger, so lower air velocity and
so less likely to suck oil out.
Stock connections are press fit into the valvecover. With
a little heat and muscle the fitting comes right out. The fitting on
the front of the valvecover is approx. 3/8" diameter. Perfect size
for a 1/4" NPT (1/4"-18 Tapper Tap) connection. The one of
the end is about 1/2", or just right for a 3/8"NPT (3/8"-18Tapper
Tap).
I'm using push-on hose connections and proper hose for
those fittings.
Hose I am using is a 3/8" ID (inside diameter) for
both connections. I can always jump to 1/2" hose if i want for
the breather.
Valvecover needed a little cleaning on both sides, so
i went to town on it. I took the liberty of removing the 2.4L letters
off the cover, since I am using it on my 2.0L. Another benefit is the
location of the oil filler location. It has a nice integrated spill
channel.
After painting I decided to get creative n do some speckle
paint on it. Looks better in person than what the camera shows.
